I Created a Mini Robot From a Phone in Just 3 Minutes
In this project, I’ll show you how to make a tiny spider-like robot using just one part salvaged from an old mobile phone! 🕷️📱
This little vibrating robot is not only fun to build but also a great example of how you can upcycle old electronic waste and give it a brand-new purpose in a creative and unusual way.
Supplies
Materials:
- A vibration motor from an old mobile phone
- A small GT4 1.5V battery
- A couple of paper clips
- Electrical tape
- A bit of glue
How it works:
The vibration motor creates tiny oscillations that transfer through the bent paper clips, making the robot "dance" or "crawl" like a little spider.
This DIY project is super simple and takes only a few minutes to make. You can also watch a 1.5-minute video showing the entire process step by step.
- Don’t forget to leave a comment on Instructables — I’d love to hear what you think and see your own creative builds!
Disassemble an old mobile phone and remove the vibration motor.
You’ll find two wires connected to the motor — one red and one yellow.
Use paper clips to make the robot’s legs. Straighten them first with round-nose pliers or any suitable tool.
Connect a small battery and secure the wires with electrical tape.
Your mini robot is ready! It moves surprisingly fast and looks quite realistic. If you camouflage it a bit with some fluffy fur, you might even give someone a little scare! 😄
