For this Instructable you will need the following

  • Nail polish
  • A Mason Jar
  • Bucket full of water
  • (Optional) Sand paper

Prep

This step is optional!! This step will ensure that after the jar is hydro dipped the paint will stay on the glass longer than if you skipped this step. To prep all you need to do is lightly sand the outside of the glass, this is called buffing.

Dribble

Time to paint! Grab your bucket full of water and your nail polish. Start gently dribbling the nails polishes of you choice onto the top of the water. But be carful because if you dribble too high the drop will not float and will sink to that bottom.

Dip

Now, grab you glass and slowly dunk it into the water where your paint is. Make sure all of the paint is stuck to the jar before bringing it out. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you are satisfied with the colors and pattern.

Dry

Now you need to let your jar dry before using. This may take up to 24 hours if you have big blobs of paint. To speed up the proses you can try using a fan.

Done!

Now your jar is done! I suggest not using this jar as a cup because the paint will come off if washed.
