How to Sew Burp Cloths

These are super easy to sew and make a really cute baby shower gift.

Gather Supplies

1/3 yard decorative fabric. 1/3 yard terrycloth, chenille or other absorbent material of your choice. Thread. Sewing machine. Rotary cutter, mat and ruler. Pins. Iron.

Wash, Dry and Iron

Wash and dry your fabric and terrycloth or chenille. Iron your decorative fabric.

Cut

BCstep1.jpg
Cut your fabric into two 11x21" pieces. Cut your terrycloth a little larger than your fabric.

(When I sew I like to use 1/2" hems, so your finished piece will be 10x20".)

Pin

Pin fabric and terrycloth right sides together.

Sew

BCstep3.jpg
Sew fabric and terrycloth together. Make sure to leave a 4" opening so that you can turn your piece right side out.

Trim

BCstep4.jpg
Trim any excess terrycloth so that it is even with your decorative fabric.

Clip

Clip corners at a 45 degree angle.

Turn Right Sides Out

Turn right sides out, pushing the corners out with your fingers.

Iron

Iron the entire piece. Then fold in the edges of your 4" opening, press and pin.

Topstitch

Topstitch around the perimeter of your burp cloth.
