How to Make Homemade Smoke Flares

Have you ever watched a movie where a super awesome ninja lights a smoke bomb. Haven't you wondered how to make something as cool as that. Because I have, so I did my research and found how to make smoke flairs and smoke bombs and they had surprisingly good results. These smoke bombs/smoke flares can be used for an emergency situation where you are lost, or maybe just for fun.

WARNING: Please be careful when making this. This may not be legal where you live so make sure you check. I am in no way responsible if you injure yourself or another, and make sure you set these outside in a well ventilated area. This will also produce a whole lot of smoke so make sure you inform your neighbors of what you are doing.

Ingredients

Make sure you gather your ingredients. They are fairly simple. All you need is sugar and stump remover which can be found in the gardening section (make sure you check the ingredients on the stump remover to see if it is mostly potassium nitrate, because that is the ingredient we want). Then put the ingredients in a cup with a 60/40 potassium nitrate/sugar ratio being careful not to mix them too much.

P.S. I don't recommend using this brand of stump remover for it doesn't have potassium nitrate.

Time to Get Cooking

Pour the cup of ingredients into a pan on the stove at medium then stir until it becomes a caramel/peanut-butter color, but don't eat it. Then quickly pour it into your casing before it dries, which I will show you to make in step 3. Sorry about how there is no picture I forgot to take one of the mixture.

The Casing

The number of ideas for a smoke flare/smoke bomb casing is infinite. You can use a number of material and objects to make the protective shell, but I'll show you how to make one from a soda can.

Once you get an empty soda can you are going to cut the bottom part of the soda can and you have a casing. Its that simple, but you don't have to use this casing. You can use any idea you think of or find. And in my opinion, making a freaking awesome smoke bomb case is the best part.
