Re_bond (How to Make a Basketball Bag)

on man model .jpg
Here is a nice little gift to make for a basketball fanatic. Just the perfect size to put an extra t-shirt, a second underwear, socks and a pair of shorts. Easy to make, stylish and practical.

Get Everything

You will need :

A basketball (duh)  OR : Soccer ball, Football, Rugby ball, Handball, Volleyball, Beach ball... Be creative
A zipper
2 key-chain rings (or shower curtain rings)
Neoprene glue (more flexible than most glues)
A strap (look in your drawers. Most sport bags come with a strap)

Open the Belly

step1.jpg
It's time to make a «Jack the Ripper» of yourself. Get a new blade for your cutter and cut a clean straight line on top of your basketball. Makes sure the cut is about  2 centimeters longer than the length of the zipper.

Glue the Zipper

step2.jpg
But a generous amount of Neoprene (rubber) glue on one side of the zipper and on the inner surface it is going to be stuck to. Use a flat tool to spread  (keep your fingers CLEAN. You don't want to put glue everywhere). Wait 10 minutes before to stick both surfaces together.
Do the same thing with the second part of the zipper and wait 30 minutes. You can use something to keep everything together while it dries.

Holes!

step3.jpg
Make two small holes about 2cm above the middle line of the basketball. Use the diameter of the key ring to know the distance between them.

The Rings

step4.jpg
Now slide the rings trough the holes and stop once they are half way. The rubber will be squeezed in the ring and you'll have a solid attach to the basketball.

Remove

step5.jpg
Use grid 120 sand paper to remove the excedent glue and the unwanted logos. It also gives a nice surface to the basketball. Put a mask on so you dont breath the dust.

Enjoy!
