How to Make an Audrey II From Polymer Clay

One day, during a solar eclipse, a man named Seymour Krelborn found a strange looking venus fly trap as he was walking in Chinatown. He nurses this curious plant back to health in the basement of the flower shop where he works, and names it Audrey II. He soon finds out, after accidentally pricking his finger on a rose thorn, that Audrey II is a carnivorous, flesh eating plant that demands the nourishment of human blood. 

In this Instructable, I will show you how to create an Audrey II from Little Shop Of Horrors using polymer clay. 

Materials: 
*Tin foil 
*Polymer Clay
*Clay tool
*Hot glue gun and glue
*Armature wire
*Wire Cutters
*Tin can
*Acrylic paint
*Oven or toaster oven
*Baking sheet
*A clean, smooth surface
*And of course, your talented hands. 

Make a ball out of tinfoil, about 2 inches in diameter. Try to flatten and smooth the surface of the ball as much as possible so it is more of a ball than a crumpled piece of tin foil. This will be used as the base of Audrey II's head. 

Make a ball of clay, about half the size of the tin foil ball. Flatten this ball on the smooth surface. This will cover the tin foil and will begin to form audrey's head.

Carefully cover the tin foil ball with the flattened clay. Make sure that the surface is smooth. Create a base at the bottom so that the ball can stand on its own. 

Make a ball of clay that is about 1/4 of the size of the last ball of clay, Then flatten it on the smooth surface. 

Chose either the right or the left side of the ball to place the flattened piece of clay on. Once placed on the ball, smooth the surface so that it looks like one piece. 

Using the clay tool, make a gash in the middle of the flattened piece of clay. This is the beginning of the mouth. 

Roll out a piece of clay so that it is about 1/8 inch thick. Cut this in half. 

Place the clay on the outline of the gash as shown below. Make sure the middle of the top piece of clay is pointing up and the middle of the bottom of the other piece of clay is pointing down. 

Shape the lips to get the desired look. I decided to make The lips pursed, as if Audrey II was drinking blood from  Seymour's finger. 

Roll out small pieces of clay and place them on the top of Audrey II's head. Try to follow the pattern of a real plant leaf. Also create the leaves that surround Audrey II by flattening pieces of clay and ruffling the edges to make it look like cabbage almost. If you have trouble keeping the leaves up, use the wire to support them.

Preheat the oven to the recommended baking temperature on the packaging of the polymer clay. In my case i used Original Sculpey, so I preheated the oven to 275 degrees F. While the oven is heating up, Place the sculpture on a baking sheet. 

Put the sculpture in the oven for the recommended baking time. in my case, I baked it for 25 minutes, but check your instructions because all clay is different. 

While the sculpture is baking, get the can ready by stuffing tin foil into it. This will support the sculpture. 

Take the sculpture out of the oven and let it cool completely. Be careful when touching it as it is hot and may crack if touched too much. 

Paint the sculpture. The colors used were lilac and green. I used lilac for the head of audrey II, because when she was a baby, she was lilac. I used green for the leaves and the veins on Audrey II.  

Using hot glue, secure the base of the sculpture to the top of the can.

You have now made an Audrey II! Happy Halloween!
