How to Make a Cartoon Out of Any Picture!

In this Instructable, you will be able to learn how to create a cartoon out of a picture.

Pick Your Picture

This can be any image, you may have to just experiment with different pictures. Some work well, and some don't.
We'll be using a program called GIMP which is similar to Adobe Photoshop and can be downloaded for free here .
Save the File to your computer.

Open in GIMP

Open Gimp -> Open -> Choose your file
Duplicate Layer

Layer -> Duplicate Layer
Edit Top Image




Select top Image -> Filters -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur... Select a blur anywhere from 2-7
Select top Image -> Colors-> Colorize... Move Hue slightly to right to get new colored image.
Select top Image -> Colors-> Threshold... Set Threshold so that it kind of looks like Eric's face
Select top Image -> In Layers Box Click arrow next to normal and choose overlay.
Select top Image -> Colors-> Colorize... Move Hue slightly to right to get new colored image.
Select top Image -> Colors-> Threshold... Set Threshold so that it kind of looks like Eric's face
Select top Image -> In Layers Box Click arrow next to normal and choose overlay.
Edit Bottom Image


Select bottom Image -> Filters -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur... Put in a number that is from 10-17
Select bottom Image -> Filters -> Artistic -> Cartoon... Adjust till it seems right
Select bottom Image -> Filters -> Artistic -> Cartoon... Adjust till it seems right
Merge Layers

Select top Image -> Layer -> Merge Down
Now there should be only one layer.
Now there should be only one layer.
You're Finished

You can save this, or print it, or basically whatever you want to do with it.
