How to Make Oxo Stew/hotpot!

Welcome to my first Instructable. Hopefully the first of many on the subject of 'disgusting things I eat' amongst other things! This is something I've been eating since I was a kid, I have no idea where the idea originated but it seems to be popular among my extended family. My wife won't touch the stuff and tends to retch at just the smell but my kids love it.

I'm using Oxo cubes for this recipe but I don't see why you couldn't use any beef stock/bouillon cubes, I know my father once made it with a couple of teaspoons of Marmite I however, have never made it with anything other than Oxo so I couldn't comment on the flavour of other stock.

It takes about 5 minutes to make, tastes sort of beefy/cheesy and is great if you have the flu or feel unwell. It's also great if you have a sore throat and need to get something a bit more substantial than soup inside you! It's also a good way of using up any stale bread/rolls that you have lying around.

Ingredients;

About four slices of bread (rolls or any other bread products will do).
Cheese (I find a mature cheddar works best).
2 Oxo cubes (I tend to use 3-4 because I like it very strong).
About 2 cups of boiling water.
A pasta or large bowl.

Method;

Take the bread/rolls and break into small pieces. (about teaspoon size).
Cut the cheese into small pieces, the amount of cheese depends purely on how cheesy you like it, (I like it very cheesy).

Crumble two oxo cubes into your bowl. (I add 3-4 as I like it quite strong).
add around two cups of boiling water and mix until the cubes have dissolved.
Add the bread & cheese.

Now mix until the cheese starts to melt and it looks like some kind of weird brown porridge.
Add more boiling water if needed. Enjoy your stew....or not!
