Mexican Corn

Corn can come in many different ways. Sweet, spicy, sour, hard, squishy, burnt, etc.

My personal favorite though is the way my mother makes it. Not only does my mother make it, but so do most Hispanics. Having that family-tradition-type of corn really makes you feel at home.

This Instructable will most definitely show how to make a great recipe for anyone who enjoys Hispanic foods.

To make the "Mexican Corn" you will need:

  • A pot
  • Water
  • Something that heats(preferably a stove)
  • Uncooked corn
  • Salt
  • Trash can

For the ingredients you will need:

  • Mayonnaise
  • Lime

  • Powdered Pepper

  • Butter

  • Parmesan Cheese

  • Greek nonfat yogurt

Boiling the Corn

To boil the corn, you will have to get a pot that is big enough for the amount of corn you will be boiling. Leave the corn with leaves when you boil the corn. (It is very important you leave the leaves on it because the leaves contain most of the corn's flavor. As it boils, the minerals in the leaves start entering the grain of the corn; therefore, giving it a nice, unique flavor.)

You then apply about a spoonful of salt to the corn and water. Let it boil for about a maximum of 30 minutes and a minimum of about 25 mins(for about 6 cobs). It all depends on the amount of corn you have inside the pot.

Taking Out the Corn

DO NOT BURN YOURSELF. BE CAREFUL.

Use tongs to take the corn out of the pot. Wait until the corn is cooled down and then you carefully peal leaves from the corn.

Buttering Up the Corn

To prepare the corn, you will need to spread the butter onto the corn with a butter knife.

Mayonnaise And/or Greek Yogurt

Spread mayonnaise onto the corn with either the same butter knife or with a different one or with a spoon. You can put both mayonnaise and Greek yogurt, or choose one.

Limes

Squirt the lime onto the corn and spread it with a butter knife or spoon.

Chili Powder

Powder the corn with chili powder. The amount you apply on the corn depends on how much chili you can handle or how spicy your choice of chili was.

Adding Parmesan Cheese

You sprinkle the small pieces of parmesan cheese onto the corn. You can either put a lot or a bit depending on how much you want.
