How to Hold a Mantis

In this intro I will show you how to hold a Praying Mantis

Go find a Mantis of any size. they are usually around in Fall. The males fly to lights at night.

Take a stick and the jar you are putting it in temporarily. Coax it into the jar by pushing it gently with the stick.

Gently coax it back out of the jar with your finger onto your hand. DO NOT pick it up it will push your fingers off grip and escape. You've got it on your hand. DO NOT spook it! The mantis will claw you! Depending on the size it has the ability to pierce skin. Hold it like a kitten. They like to sit and act like a branch. Don't nudge them unless getting them back to the jar.
