How to Evenly Split a Large Log.

Building a bench?  Making fence post rails? This is how I split a large and heavy Popular log lengthwise.  In our case it was because it was too large to hand load.  It was a spur of the moment find and I had few tools to work with.  I think the key here is a very sharp chainsaw and lots of wedges.  Even with about half of the tools I needed, we still managed to pull it off and save a valuable log from being cut up for firewood.
