How to Draw Cartoon Portraits From Photographs

Do you want to create a cool cartoon of yourself or a friend? If yes, then this easy-step tutorial is just for you! It is important to build your own style as a cartoonist but hey, nobody was born knowing how to draw! So grab your pencil and get to work!
Make Some Quick Sketches of Your Model

Start by making a quick sketch of your model.Don`t go for the first cartoon you sketch. Make a couple, so that you can choose the best one to transfer on the paper.
Transfer the Sketch on a Good Paper

After choosing the right sketch of you/your friend you can transfer it on a nice paper (I used 300gr. non acid aquarelle paper).
Begin to Colour

Start by applying the skin colour.Use thinner brush when painting details.
Don`t Be Afraid to Make Changes on the Painting

Watching the original photo is very important. This way you will make sure that the person you are painting looks like the cartoon.Don`t be afraid to make changes on your painting.Of course you can change some small details:such as hair color, eyes, etc. -changing the position of the model or similar might destroy your painting. That`s why the sketch is so important. You can erase the pencil as much as you want but once you apply the paint you can not remove it.
Voila!

And your cartoon portrait is ready! This one I made for a friend! If you like my style and want to own such portrait or order for a friend, visit my shop.
