Unroll and Position Wrapping Paper

Unroll the wrapping paper face down across a hard, flat surface. Place the present on top of the wrapping paper. In case your box is rectangular, align the longer sides parallel to the roll’s end/horizontally.

Cutting Your Section

Lift a vertical end. Wrap the end of the paper up and over the box until it is completely covered. Mark where the end meets the other side and add another inch. Cut a straight line across the top to bottom/vertically here, separating your section from the roll of wrapping paper.

Refine the Vertical Ends

The two vertical ends of wrapping paper should only slightly overlap one another, crossed horizontally. If there is too much, cut a straight line across the top layer of wrapping paper but make sure that the ends still overlap.

Refine the Height

Pulling the horizontal side up against the box, make sure there is slightly more paper than the height of your box. Cut off the excess paper beyond box, located at the pictured yellow line.

Tape the Two Ends to the Box

Place the box UPSIDE-DOWN in the middle of the paper you’ll be working with.

Grab one vertical end of the wrapping paper and tape it halfway across the top surface of the box.

Grab the opposite side of the paper and pull it so that the wrapping is tight. Place this layer on top to overlap the layer you just taped down.

Secure the top layer onto the bottom layer with another piece of tape in the center. Add additional pieces of tape to prevent the layer from sticking up.

Tuck in the Open Ends.

The box should have open ends of wrapping paper sticking out from two opposing sides. Push down the top half of these sides inwards and secure by folding the top and the sides. You may tape this down if necessary. Repeat on the other side.

Crease the Sides

On the left and the right of the open ends should be “triangles.” Crease as pictured, then tuck them in towards the box as well. Tape if necessary and repeat on the other side.

Final Folds

There should be two remaining pieces of extended paper on the bottom sides of the box. Fold them upward and secure both with a piece of tape.

Flip Right Side Up

Flip the box right side up, so that it is oriented correctly and there is no tape on the top of the box.

Decorate

Decorate your present with bows, ribbons, and/or a name tag.
