How to Waterproof Your Shoes

Have you ever walked out into the rainy weather, hesitant to walk out because you don't want to get wet? I'm sure you have or will at some point in time. Umbrellas can keep some of you dry, but definitely not your shoes. They usually get soaked. This waterproofing method will keep your shoes and feet inside of them nice and dry. This method is also much cheaper than going out to buy waterproofing solutions.

You will need 3 things to waterproof your shoes.

1. Your shoe

2. A hair blower

3. White crayon or candle

The first step is to coat or "color" on your shoe in the areas you would like to waterproof. This will put a nice coat of wax on your shoe. Make sure you do a couple coats to get the best results.

This is what the shoe should look like after coating it in wax.

You will need to get this wax into your shoe for the best results. To do this, you need to blow dry all of the covered areas of the shoe. You will start to see the white color disappear from the shoe fairly quickly after putting it under the hair dryer. You are finished after all of the white is gone. (Or at least not noticeable)

You are done. It really is that simple! As you can see in the picture, the water just beads right off of the shoe. I stuck my hand inside the shoe just to make sure, and it was bone dry! I hope you found this project a helpful and simple cheap alternative to waterproofing solutions.
