Upgrade Your Laptop's CD/DVD Drive to Blu-Ray!!

This Instructable will show you how to upgrade your laptop's cd\dvd drive to blu-ray, giving you the ability to play & burn cd's, dvd's and blu-rays.

Make sure you have the right size drive before you upgrade. Laptop dvd and blu-ray drives come in 7.5mm, 9.5mm and 12.7mm.

Next you will need a program to play blu-ray disks a good one to use if Power DVD

You will need :

• A portable Blu-Ray Drive
• A small Philips screwdriver
• A small Flat edged Screw Driver
• An unbent paper clip

1. Flip the portable Blu-Ray Drive upside down

2. Take out all the screws

3. Remove the back

4. Remove the Blu-Ray Drive from it's shell

5. Disassemble

• Remove everything attached to the Blu-Ray Drive

1. Make sure your laptop is turned off

2. Set your laptop on a clean flat surface

3. Flip it Upside Down

4. Take out the Battery

1. Take out the centre screw holding the Cd\Dvd Drive in place

2. Pull the Cd\Dvd Drive out of your Laptop

a) Open the Cd/Dvd Drive

• Take an unbent paperclip and stick it in the pin hole (Release) on the Cd/Dvd Drive faceplate/bezel to open it

b) Carefully pull the Cd/Dvd Drive out of your Laptop

1. Remove the faceplate/bezel Attached to the Cd/Dvd Drive

a) Flip the Cd/Dvd Drive upside down

b) Using a small flat edged screw driver, push the tab down and out at the same time

c) Pull the faceplat/bezel off of the Cd/Dvd Drive carefully making sure that none of the tabs break

2. Remove the faceplate/bezel Attached to the Blu-Ray Drive

a) Flip the Blu-Ray Drive upside down

b) Using a small flat edged screw driver, push the tab down and out at the same time

c) Pull the faceplat/bezel off of the Blu-Ray Drive carefully making sure that none of the tabs break

d) Close the Blu-Ray Drive

3. Attach the Cd/Dvd Drive faceplate/bezel to the Blu-Ray Drive

a) Make sure the faceplate/bezel is lined up properly

b) Push the faceplate/bezel into the Blu-Ray Drive until you hear it snap into place

4. Remove the metal plate attached to the Cd/Dvd Drive

• Remove the 2 screws holding the metal plate in place

5. Attach the metal plate to the Blu-Ray Drive

• Make sure the lip on the metal plate in facing towards the bottom on the Blu-Ray Drive

6. Put the Blu-Ray Drive in your laptop

7. Put the screws back in your Laptop

8. Put the Battery back in you Laptop
