How to Tie an Overhand Loop

overhand loop.jpg

Welcome to my How to Knot tutorial, I will be showing you how to tie an overhand loop. This knot is typically used for camping or just as a general purpose. This is quite a useful knot and is even great as a stopper. This is a simple knot when a fixed loop is needed, can be tied anywhere along a piece of rope so it doesn’t need a working end and can be used for attaching hardware such as clips or hooks. Unfortunately this knot is known to jam, making it difficult to untie.

Be sure to check out the descriptive video at the end to help for further understand.

First double a section of rope to form a bight.

Create a loop.

Pass the free end through the loop and tighten.
