How to Tie a Fishing Knot
Hi my name is Sam Ohliger. I work at Macksteel warehouse where metal surplus is everything! Did you know that you can tie a fishing knot in a few short steps? This way anyone can go fishing because they can tie a fishing knot!
Hold the Line and Jig.
First spool the line out of the pole and pull out at least three feet of line so you can tie the knot properly. If right-handed then hold the line in right hand. (Opposite for left) Hold the jig head horizontally so the eyelid is pointed towards the line.
Put the Line in the Eyelid.
Next take the end of the line and string it through the eyelid of the jig head. Make sure to have about four to five inches of line out for proper use.
Start the Knot by Lining Up the Line.
After that take the five inches and pinch that to the line on the opposite side of the jig head. Hold about 1/2 of an inch of line on the top side of the spot where the line is pinched.
Spin the Jig.
Next take the jig head while pinching line with other hand and spin the jig head eight times. Make sure the line is tight while spinning, it will not work properly if not held tight.
Put Top Line Through Small Hole at the Bottom.
Then take the 1/2 of an inch piece from the top of the pinch point, grab that so it can be moved. (Line does not have to be as tight anymore) Take the line and at the top of the eyelid and string the 1/2 of an inch and put it through the hole.
Lick the Line and Pull.
Next lick all the twists in the line and pull the knot tight. It should sit around 1/8 of an inch on top of the eyelid right in the middle. If not in the middle, then pull directly on top. There should not be any loops in the knot, just a tight knot.
Trim Line.
Last take the excess line from the knot and trim that to about 1/8 of an inch so it is not dangling off elongated. Pull on the line quickly and firm a few times to make sure the knot holds. Have fun fishing and not having the line break!
