How to Tie a Figure Eight Knot

Welcome to my channel How to Knot and in this video, I will be showing you how to tie a figure eight knot. Beyond a general purpose knot, this can also be used in climbing, camping, and sailing. This is a type of stopper knot used to prevent ropes from running out of hardware devices. The figure eight knot can jam under strain, but can also be undone much easier than compared to an overhand knot.

First start by creating a loop.

Wrap the working end around one more time on the standing part.

Pass the working end through the look.

Tight and dress the knot.
