How to Start Your Windup

Here you will see how to properly start your windup and the stages of pitching.
Fastball

A fastball is a basic pitch that you begin with. This pitch is your fastest pitch.
Steps:
- The grip of a fastball is shown above. Place your index finger, middle finger, and ring finger on top of the steams. Place your thumb on the bottom and pinky on the side.
- When throwing the pitch, begin your windup.
- When you get your arm to your hip, release the ball and follow up with your arm.
Curveball

The curveball is considered your breaking pitch. In which the ball moves to the left if you are right handed and to the right if you are left handed.
Steps:
- The grip of a curveball is shown above.
- When throwing the pitch, begin your windup.
- When you get your arm to your hip, snap your wrist over to your left side if you are right handed, and to your right side if you are left handed.
Screwball & Riseball

The screw ball is also considered a breaking pitch. In which the ball moves to the right if you are right handed and to the left if you are left handed.
Steps - Screwball:
- The grip of a screwball is shown above.
- When throwing the pitch, begin your windup.
- When you get your arm to your hip, spin your wrist to the right side if you are right handed, and to the left side if you are left handed.
Steps - Riseball:
- The grip of a riseball is shown above.
- When throwing the pitch, begin your windup.
- When you get your arm to your hip, spin your wrist upward, and follow through.
Change Up

This pitch is to change the speed to confuse the batter. A change up is supposed to be around 10 mph slower than your fast ball. The concept of a change up is to make the batter early in which they swing and miss the ball.
Steps:
- The grip is shown above; however it has the same grip as a fastball.
- When throwing the pitch, begin your windup.
- When you get your arm to your hip, turn your hand backwards to release the ball, then follow through.
