Threading is a form of facial hair removal which involves using a string to pull the hairs out from the skin. Threading is an art, an old tradition and a rite of passage that originated in 400 BC, from eastern cultures in India and Iran. Threading your own eyebrows is beneficial because you will save money and once you are confident with your threading skills, you know your eyebrows will always come out perfect. What type of string should I use? The best string to use would be a white colored string because it will not leave any dye on your face and a string that is not thick.

Cut your string about 18 inches long. When you become familiar with this technique you can adjust the size to your liking. Once you’ve cut the string tie the ends to create a loop. It is best to double knot or triple knot.

Put your three middle fingers on each side of the string. You can also put four fingers including your thumb or five fingers, even three if you’re comfortable, on both ends of the string. Twist the string approximately 6 times or more, ensuring that you hold onto the knot so that it stays on one end of the string. That way the knot will not get in the way of the twists.

The Strings Motion

Threading your brows functions by the hairs being pulled out by the twists in the middle of the string. You should pull the hair opposite to the way it grows. Again, you can accomplish this by putting four fingers including your thumb or five, even three if you’re comfortable, on both ends of the string. Your thumb should touch the bottom part of the string and the rest of your fingers should touch the top part of the string. Once your hands are in place push down with your thumb and up with the rest of your fingers. It may take some time to get comfortable with the movement but you can do it!

This is the step where you will remove your hair. The twists in the middle of the string should be placed opposite to the way your hair grows. Once the string is in place you can perform the movement of the string. The movement of the string, as it states in step three, consist of placing both hands on both ends of the string, pushing down on the bottom string with your thumb and up with the rest of your fingers on the top string.
