How to Tan Leather (easily)
This is an instructables on how to tan leather easily
Supplies
Tanic Acid, leather, eat
Remove the Flesh and Fat
Just that. Remove all the flesh and fat to make it cleaner.
Remove the Hair
Doesn't matter how, just get the hair out.
Rinse Out All the Alkali From the Skin
Yyyyeah... I use a mixture of warm, soft water and Calcium Hydroxide (hydrated lime.) One pound Calcium Hydroxide to 10 pounds of water. Leave it in the solution for a while, and stir it often.
Chop Up the Tanning Material
Actually, just do whatever you need to do to get out the tannin. Soak it in water to make a solution and dunk the hide in that. You could also layer the skin with layers of chopped up tannin material.
Scrape Once Again
Once the skin is totally penetrated, scrape, scrub and wash the skin to remove the extra tannin.
Finish the Leather
That is complicated... Look it up online, as each different type of leather needs to be finished differently.
