If you've ever experience preseason you know that it can be grueling. The constant cycle of working out, being sore and tired can really wear you down. There is a certain level of persistence and motivation that is required to get through it. But there are a few things that can help you survive.

Motivation

Preseason can be hard and the only way to get through it is by staying motivated. Know why you're doing this. Whether it is to get in shape or to prepare for your sport season, always remember why you are doing this.

Mentality

It is important to also have a positive mentality. If you try to find a bright side for everything you do, you will go into everything giving everything that you can.

Preperation

It is important that you have the right supplies for preseason. You want to have the right shows and a large water bottle. After practice its a good idea to stretch. Owning a foam roller and/or a massage gun will help with this process. You should also own ice packs to help with muscle recovery.

Breakfast & Sleep

During preseason, you will probably have practices in the morning. Before these practices it is important to eat a breakfast for fuel. This way you will be able to last during the entire practice. Good things to eat are protein bars, oranges, bananas, apple sauce, and etc. Another way to have good energy is by getting a full night of rest. It is suggested to have 8-10 hours of sleep. This way you will be set up for success at your practices.

Food & Fuel

CARB LOADING!!!!

During preseason, its important to eat the right foods. Carbs and proteins are two of the most important foods to eat during preseason. They will help your muscles recover and will give you energy. Make sure you are also eating fruits and vegetables. Stock up on these food because you will be hungry!

And yes, carb loading in the best part of pre season.

Hydrating

This is one of the most important thigns to remeber. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. You will be sweating a lot and to keep working hard you need to replenish your body of fluyids and electrolights.

Stretching

Stretching is an important step to avoid injuries. You should stretch after practice and at least once at home to make sure your muscles stay loose. If there is a physical trainer available, take full advantage of that and notify them, if you are experiencing any pain. If there is not physical trainer, still notify your coach and they will decide what is best for you to do at practice. And remember to always listen to your body.

Icing

Icing is the next step to avoiding injuries. It will help reduce pain and swelling. Its a good idea to ice any injuries that you have. Our motto is the icing fixes everything, so its never a bad idea to ice.

Pain and Injuries

If you do happened to get injured, tell someone right away. It is easier to handle a small problem than a big one. You need breaks sometimes especially if you are hurt.

Fun !!

Conclusion

In all, preseason in 100% doable. With the right supplies, mindset, and routine preseason won't be that bad (maybe even enjoyable?) Remember that its okay to have rough days, and to give your body time to rest. You can do it, I believe in you!
