How to Start Skateboarding As a Beginner
Do you have trouble starting skateboarding or progressing? Welcome to my instructable! I will be teaching you how to start skateboarding and progressing as an intermediate. I struggled a lot trying to start skateboarding,I started it 3 years ago but always stopped in the winter from the snow.I am pretty good at skateboarding and mostly self taught.I always had a love for skateboarding and started watching Aaron Kyro and braille since i was five.Lets stop talking and start skateboarding!
Supplies
- Skateboard
- Helmet and pads [optional]
- Good shoes
- Skatepark near you [optional]
First, put on your good shoes (Vans, any shoe basically)
Secondly, put on any gear you might want (helmet, pads)
Third, go grab your board! (some good board brands i like are krooked, element,Girl,Baker,Alien,)
Afterwards, go to your local skatepark, paved alley, concrete.
Finally, get ready to skate!
Starting Skateboarding
Starting skateboarding is really hard but if you really want to get good then never stop. The skate community is really nice and helpful so never be scared to go to your local skatepark and ask others to help.
Beginner Skaters
If you are reading this i'm guessing you are a beginner skater. Let's start with riding your board, go to your skate spot (a park with grass is really good) get onto your skateboard and just rock side to side (heel to toe) till you get comfortable with that. Once you feel comfortable rocking heel to toe then go to a flat piece of concrete and put one foot on the front screws of the board and with your other foot push straight along the side of your board slowly, practice that. Once you feel confident with riding go back to step one where you were practicing turning and balance now get on your skateboard and push off a little till you are moving a bit then slightly lean to one side of the board till you are turning a bit, practice that till you can do both sides going straight in a wave motion back and forth. This is the last bit of beginning skating you will need and it will be pretty hard.It is another way to turn or just called tic tacking where you press on the back of your slightly press on the tail of your board then turn to get around sharp turns. To start ticktacking first slightly press on the tail of your board and try to hold it for a couple seconds, then once you feel comfortable doing that then do the same thing just slightly turning to both sides of the board(try this on grass first.)Afterwards you can go to your skate spot or flat concrete and push off a little then slightly push on your tail and then turn while still on your tail then release off your tail and keep rolling, practice that.
