How to Sketch a Nose in 10 Steps
Although it’s fairly simple, many novice artists find it difficult to draw human noses. Follow these instructions to sketch a nose using the basic shapes we see in everyday life.
Supplies
All you need for this is paper and a pencil. For this demonstration, I used cartridge paper from my sketchbook and a mechanical pencil.
Draw a Triangle
Draw a right triangle.
Draw a Circle
Draw a small circle on the bottom left corner, with the circle beginning at the pointed end of the triangle.
Draw an Oval
Draw a small oval beside the circle on the bottom right corner of the triangle.
Draw a Line
Draw a curved line connecting the two shapes at the bottom of the triangle.
Erase Parts of the Design
Erase parts of the circle, oval, and triangle like the photograph depicts.
Make Another Angled Line
Begin a line parallel to the slope from the rounded part of the left hand corner.
Erase Things, Again
Erase the sloped line that you drew in step 1.
Extend the Curve Out
Extend the curve as shown in the image.
Add Space for the Nostril
Erase the piece of the line that connects the left and right corners.
Draw the Cupid's Bow
Draw a slight curve extending down to represent the cupid’s bow.
