How to Sight in a Compound Bow | the Sticks Outfitter EP. 23
Whether you're a beginner and new to the bow hunting world, or a savvy vet looking to brush up on your skills, this is a great video to make sure you're prepared for bow hunting season! One of, if not the, most important pieces of bow hunting is to make sure your bow is accurately sighted in at all different distances because you never know how far the shot will be that you need to make to harvest that buck or bull.
- First things first, find an allen wrench set and your housing (pin sight adjustments). The pin adjustments are on the side and top of the housing, with the top on the side being the pin for 20 yards, second from the top for a 30 yard shot, working all the way down to the 60 yard pin
- Use the top pin to aim and take a 20 yard shot. Adjust your sights depending on where you missed. For our example, we missed a little low and to the right. For this adjustment you'll adjust the pin opposite to your miss, so we'll move the pin down a bit (so we aim higher), and push the pin to the right (so we aim more left). Take another shot and repeat until you're hitting the middle of the target every time!
- Repeat for each pin, 30 yards, 40, 50 & 60 yards
- Lastly, make sure as you're sighting in your bow you're minimizing the variables. Make sure you're on flat ground and that you're using proper bow shooting mechanics to ensure you're shooting right where you're aiming
