Since may people love to go fishing, why not get your gear ready and prepared an easy way to enjoy a great day on the water.
Supplies
Fishing has been apart of my life for as long as I can remember. Some think that putting new line on fishing pole can be very hard and it may take two people. But with these instructions, setting up a fishing pole will be fast and easy with no help at all. All that will be need is a fishing pole, fishing line, and the top of a pot with an air hole or grommet.
Picking the Fishing Line
The first step is choosing the fishing line that will be on your pole. Around the eastern part of South Dakota, it really comes down to preference because of the wide variety of fish we have in our lakes. Personally, I use 8-10 lb. braided line, and the reason for choosing this line is because of the snags and rocks that lurk in our lakes. This gives it a little more durability for the snags and helps if a tooth infested fish is hooked up. Although, some anglers turn to monofilament line and that works well to, but is more likely to break if a northern or another toothy fish is hooked.
Getting the Line Under the Lid
So, the next step to setting up the fishing pole is getting the lid to a pot, and I know this sounds weird but trust me it works. The reason for the pot is to hold your line along with putting enough pressure on the line in order to have the line tight in the spool. After the lid is acquired, take the spool of fishing line and put it under the lid. Before the line is left under the lid, take the end of the line and thread it through the air grommet.
Set the Pole Up to Reel
Now it’s time to pick up the fishing pole and thread the line through the eyelets. Meanwhile as the line is threaded through the eyelets, open the bail on the fishing pole. The bail is the half circle over the spool that will release your line when the rod is casted. Next, take the line and tie it around the spool so it is connected to the rod. When the knot is tied, close the bail and start reeling line onto the spool.
Reel on the Line
The amount of line on the spool is all a personal preference, but some fishing rods will tell how many yards is recommended on the reel. But, it is hard to tell so it will be almost an estimate between how much is on the real and how much is left on the spool. In this case, it will be a pole that is threaded, but still connected to the line under the pot. So, the best way to clip braided fishing line is using a finger nail clipper. After the line is clipped take the end that is clipped and tie it onto one of the lower eyelets.
Conclusion
That was just a very easy way to set up a fishing pole along with doing it yourself. This will help you get to the water fast and easy. The fishing pole is now ready to go, and to catch that proud angler.
