Hello, My name is Abigail. I want to help people improve on their overhand serving to enhance their game. I want to show people how to properly overhand serve a volleyball. Today, I am going to show you the skills to perform overhand serving properly. I have some easy steps to teach you how to overhand serve on your own. Knowing how to overhand serve will make the game of volleyball more intense and fun.

Toss and Arm Swing

Were going to break down the overhand serve into two parts. For instance, we are going to work on the toss and the arm swing. Additionally, the toss of the serve is the most important part and if that is not consistent it’s going to be really hard to serve the ball over the net. So, if your right-handed you’re going to toss the ball with your left-hand and if your left-handed your going to toss the ball with your right- hand. Like, with passing you want to make sure your arm is straight out in frontof you, you don’t want to bend it and you want to make sure that your wrist is flat and that the palm of your hand is facing up. One of the major things about a toss is to make sure that you’re always tossing the ball in front of your hitting shoulder. You do not want to be leaning left or right because the ball will not go where you want, you want to follow through straight on the ball.

The Stance

For your stance, if your left-handed you want to start with your right- foot slightly forward and if your right-handed you want to start with your left foot slightly forward. When you practice tossing the ball you want to toss it in front of you and when it drops it should land right in front of your stomach. Another thing you want to think of is the height of the toss, you don’t want to toss it too high or toss it too low, you want to toss it in the middle.

How It Should Look
