How to Sculpt and Add Missing Pottery Segment and Apply Gold Kintsugi

This tutorial is an example of one of the methods we use to sculpt and add a missing pottery rim segment using the resin casting technique. The finish can be seamless repair or Kintsugi repair.

Supplies

  1. Two-part 5 min PC Clear epoxy
  2. Wooden stick or a pin-tool
  3. Container with pvc pebbles or rice
  4. Casting mold
  5. Two parts epoxy resin
  6. Scale
  7. Denatured or 91% Alcohol
  8. Rag
  9. Paper pad to mix Epoxy on

Mix Casting Mold

Mix well two even parts of casting mold

Apply Casting Mold

  1. Apply casting mold to an unbroken segment
  2. When shaped casting mold cured, add more casting mold on the side opening

Preparing and Pouring the Resin Epoxy

  1. Pour equal parts of resin-epoxy
  2. Mix the two part resin epoxy well
  3. Fill the mold impression with casting-resin

Resin Epoxy Curation

  2. Remove newly made segment when cured
  3. Segment ready to be applied

Marking the Required Shape

Shape to Size
