How to Sculpt a Miniature Pizza

Today I made a miniature pizza using oven bake clay! Hope this tutorial will be helpful to you if you want to make one yourself! I have also made a video tutorial on my YouTube channel HappyHarmony if you would like a better visual. It's at the end of this Instructible!

• Toothbrush, Paintbrush, & Toothpick (For Texturing)

Start out by making a small ball of white clay. To make the crust, push your thumb into the center of the ball and push outwards. Just as I'm doing in the photo.

Use the colors of chalk pastels as in the photo above. Scrape some of it using a knife or clay tool on a piece of paper or into a paint pallet. Use your paintbrush to carefully brush the chalk onto the pizza crust. Start with the lightest color and work your way to the darkest. Be sure to go light on the chalk at first and take your time. If you add too much chalk it won't look as realistic.

TIP: If you want a different colored crust, use different chalk pastel colors.

Using your toothbrush, make some texture on your crust. (Make sure you use a toothbrush you wont use in your mouth!) Push the brush into the clay. It's okay if it's not a perfect circle, you can make your pizza whatever shape you'd like.

TIP: If you'd like, to avoid getting chalk on your toothbrush, you can at texture the crust first then shade with the chalk.

To make the sauce, start by pouring some of your liquid clay into a paint pallet or paper. Scrape some red chalk into the liquid clay and mix. If you want your sauce a different color, you can use a different colored chalk. You can put some pieces of clay into the sauce if you'd like to, but it's optional. once the sauce looks the way you want it, pour it into your pizza crust and spread it around. Don't be afraid to make it a bit messy!

Once your sauce is spread, we need to make the cheese. Start by taking bits of white clay and flattening it in your fingers. Then put them on your pizza. (I put on about four.) By doing this, your cheese we are about to make wont mix in with the sauce too much and it will be easier to spread. To make your cheese, put some liquid clay into your pallet or paper and put a chunk of white clay in it. At first it will look like it wont mix, but after a minute it should all mix in! Using this technique will make your cheese look melted. Spread it onto your pizza. Mix it in the sauce a bit to make it look cooked.

For some garnish, roll out a green piece of green clay into a think snake. Using a clay tool, cut tiny bits of it off and place it on your pizza. You can take your time to position the pieces on as you like.

For my pizza, I'll be adding pepperoni and olives.

For the olives, roll some black clay into little balls and spread them around your pizza.

For pepperoni, roll little balls of red clay and flatten them. Using your toothbrush, add some texture to your pepperoni. You don't have to add texture to them if you don't want to.

You can scrape some chalk over the pizza for more detail. But this is optional. Be careful, because if you add too much it wont look right. If you accidentally add too much, you can take a wipe and gently wipe of the chalk you don't want.

TIP: If you want to make pizza slices, just cut a triangle piece out of your pizza! Make sure you do it before you bake though!

To make some breadsticks, roll out a long snake of white clay. Using the same chalk colors to shade the pizza crust, lightly shade the breadstick. You can use your toothbrush to add more texture if you'd like to, but I only added a bit. To make slices, use a knife or clay tool and cut a slice from your breadstick. Use a clay tool or toothpick to add holes and details in the slice of bread.

Bake your clay creations according to your clay package's instructions. If you are using Sculpey clay, bake at 275°F for about 15 minutes. Once it cools, you can glaze it with glaze or resin, or you can keep it as it is.
