Hi, my name is Khloe Speidel, I have been riding horse since I was able to walk. I have been told that I am good and fast at getting my horses saddled. The most important thing for this is having a saddle. I am going to be teaching you how to saddle your horse safely and correctly.

Supplies

The items needed are a cinch, saddle, saddle blanket, breast collar, backstrap, latigo and off billets.

Grab the Saddle Blanket

The first step is grabbing the saddle blanket and placing in on the horses back so the hole in the blanket is on the withers of the back.

The second step is to grab the saddle and place it on the blanket but make sure the saddle sits on the withers, the hole in the saddle will match up with the hole on the blanket.

Attach the Cinch to the Latigo

Next, grab the cinch and pull it underneath the belly to where it is almost touching the front two legs, then grab the latigo and loop it through the d rings on the cinch 2 times. After it is looped through tie on the ring like a tie and tighten, so the saddle won’t move.

Hooking Up the Backstrap

The fourth step is grabbing the backstrap and pulling it underneath the belly but don’t put it to far back by the back legs, more in the middle of the belly and put it in the hole of the off billet.

Grab the Breast Collar

After all that is done grab the breast collar and hook it up to the hole on the left side of the saddle in the hoop.

After Everything Is Hooked Up

After everything is hooked up make sure to double check everything so that it is all tight and the saddle don’t slide around.
