How to Rock the AUX Cord Like a Pro.
Have you been in the awkward position where we are driving with friends or family then they asks you to put on some music but you’re unsure what to play? Called shotgun but didn’t realize the responsibility of the shotgun seat is to handle the playlist? Don’t worry we all have. If you want to rock the AUX cord like a pro then you’ve come to the right place. For this car jam session we will be making a Pre-Party playlist than will range from 50 to 100 minutes long (Depends on how long each song is).
Gathering Your Materials.
In order to make a successful car playlist you are going to need the following things ITunes, an Auxiliary cord, 25 songs, a car with a speaker, and Friends or Family (Cannot be bought in stores).
Open Itunes.
Select the Playlist Button.
Click the “+” Icon at the Bottom Left of the Windows, and Select “New Playlist”.
Make a Distinctive Title.
You don’t want to be in the car with Nana and play “My neck my back” by Khia.
Decide What Type of Atmosphere You Want This Playlist to Create.
For example if you are about to go out with friends to a fun event or party then you may want to play something with a fast beat that energizes you. Or if you have had a long day at work and need to relax then you may want to play slow songs that aren’t too exciting. It all depends on your mood.
Choosing the First Two Songs.
The person holding the AUX may be a little self-conscious because they aren’t sure if other people will like their music choice. But never fear I’m here for you. The first ten songs are the most important. Most of the times your audience in the car won’t pay as much attention to what songs are being played after the first 10(20-30minutes). But this depends on how long you are in the car. For long trips the amount of songs played before people stop paying attention is relatively short, for shorter trips this time is extended a little more. The first two songs should be something that puts goose bumps on everyone’s arms. The songs should be so exciting that everyone in the back seat is dabbing like they’ve never dabbed before. For this example I chose “Everyday (Coolin’)” By Swizz Beats as my first song then “Cut it” by O.T. Genasis as the second.
Picking the Next Three Songs.
The next three songs is where you get to test your audience. The first of the three still has to be upbeat song. Everyone in the back has just been blown away by your fire AUX cord skills and can’t wait to hear what you will throw at them next, and you can’t let them down. Take this opportunity to see if they have similar music taste as you. Play a song that helps you get really hype, a song that you’d probably list to if you needed to get hype before a race. But the song after this should be something that you know everyone will enjoy just in case they don’t like the song you just played. For the last song you should play another test song to continue test your audience to see if they agree with your music taste. If they like it continue to step 9. If not, skip to step 10.
You Did It!
You have been able from here on out you might have an idea of what to play. You should continue to play upbeat songs from here until you need to get out of the car. There are a couple songs that you should include in your playlist if you haven’t already. When you play these songs is up to you but every AUX master has these songs in their utility belt. Two throwback songs. These songs should always be played right after the other. If you don’t already know a throwback song is a song that is relatively old but when it first came out it was really big and everyone enjoys listening to. One song should be something that people usually know all the words to. Who doesn’t enjoy some car Karaoke every once in a while? Congratulations! You are now an AUX cord pro, go my sons and daughters bless the many speakers of the world with wonderful music!
Take a Deep Breath and Relax.
It is A ok if not everyone enjoyed the music you played. It’s always unfortunate to find out that not everyone has such amazing music taste like you do. If this turns out to be the case then you should continue to play mainstream music that everyone enjoys. There are a couple songs that you should include in your playlist if you haven’t already.
