My dog recently got into a rude behavior when I left him home alone for a few hours. When I got home, he had literally eaten the top of a drawer in a small wooden closet I have. These situations are very common in many homes where there are pets, whether they are dogs, cats, or other pets. Many times, these arrangements are expensive, or the decision is simply to throw the items away.

Here you can see how the drawer was finished, and on this occasion I want to share with you how I repaired this drawer, in a practical and economical way, I am not a professional and I do not have professional tools to repair furniture, but I think I managed to repair it and give it a better look after this disaster that my four-legged friend created.

1. To begin, use a drill to drill 4 holes with a small bit to insert 4 wooden sticks or 4 toothpicks.

This will provide a base that will hold the putty better when applying it.

2. Apply wood glue to each stick or toothpick, as shown in the image uno

To make the putty used to repair the drawer.

5. Use a little sawdust. Strain it through a sieve to slightly sift the sawdust and remove any large residue.

6. Add carpentry glue or glue you have at home. Stir the mixture with a stick until you get a thick putty, as shown in the image.

  1. Apply the putty to the parts of the drawer you want to fill, in order to repair the wooden drawer.

8. After letting it dry for at least 24 hours, begin sanding to shape the putty. I started with 100-grit sandpaper to roughen and smooth it out, then used 120-grit sandpaper to sand the entire drawer, removing the paint and leaving the drawer natural. After removing the paint, sand with 220 grit sandpaper to smooth the wood.

9.After the drawer is completely sanded, it's time to paint. Taking advantage of the situation, I'll give my cabinet a new color, which is why I chose white. To do this, apply a first coat of white vinyl, let it dry for about 20 minutes, and sand it with 220-grit sandpaper to smooth it out. Then, apply another coat of vinyl and let it dry for another 20 minutes, then sand it again. Finally, use white lacquer paint. This should be applied quickly since it dries very quickly, but it will give the drawer a better finish.

I applied the paint with the help of a foam and applied it in touches, it can also be done with a brush or a roller.

The drawer has finally been rescued. This option is something very homemade for those people who do not have much knowledge, do not have professional carpentry tools, and have a small budget to recover their furniture.
