How to Register to Vote in Arkansas

Voting gives you the power to choose leaders who will represent you and your community! Your vote matters!

Supplies

Check Eligibility.

  1. Be a U.S. citizen.
  2. Be an Arkansas resident.
  3. Be age 18 or turn 18 on or before the next election.
  4. Not be a convicted felon whose sentence has not been discharged or pardoned.
  5. Not be presently adjudged as mentally incompetent as to your ability to vote by a court of competent jurisdiction.

Pick Up a Voter Registration Packet.

  1. Available at DMV offices or county clerk offices.

Note: Arkansas does not currently offer online voter registration but you can request a voter registration packet be mailed to you via the secretary of state website for Arkansas.

Fill Out the Form Completely.

  1. You will need your name, address, date of birth, and last four of your social security or a valid drivers license.

Sign and Date the Form.

  1. The form is invalid if there is no signature on it.

Submit the Form.

  1. Turn the form back into the office you picked it up from or mail it back to sender if you requested the form to be mailed.

Remember the Deadline.

  1. All voter registrations forms have to be submitted or mailed 30 days before an election for the voter to be able to participate.

Check Your Registration Status.

  1. You can check your registration status by Vote.org and following the pop ups by enter your name, date of birth, and zip code to find if your registration has been processed.

Note: registrations can take days to weeks to process

Receive Your Registration Card in the Mail.

Note: this will also have your polling location posted on it.

Update Your Information.

  1. If you move or change your name, you will need to update this on your voter registration by filling out a new voter registration form.

Bring a Valid ID When Voting.
