DIY Epoxy Wood Table Finish (4 Easy Ways)

In this instructable, I show you an easy way to finish any wood surface using a food safe, non-toxic finish. This method can be used for wood tables, wood floors, and even epoxy resin.

There are several things which are difficult to explain with words and images, so be sure to checkout the video. Also, don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel.

Supplies

Clean Surface or Sand

First, make sure the wood surface is free of dust and debris. If you are refinishing a surface, sand with 220 grit to remove the old finish or topcoat.

Hand Protection

Although this finish does not require gloves or hand protection, I wear gloves anyway to prevent the finish from getting under my fingernails.

Mix Oil

Odie's oil is a food safe, non-toxic hardwax oil finish. You can use it on wood, epoxy, wood floors, and even metal. Keep in mind, 1 jar goes a long way.

Mix the jar with a mixing stick and grab an applicator pad. You can even apply it with a terry towel if you don't have an abrasive applicator pad.

Apply Oil to Surface

Next, rub the oil on the surface using small, circular patterns.

Overall, this process is rather easy - wax on, wax off. Remember to get the sides and ends.

Cover Entire Surface

Continue until the entire surface is covered with oil.

As a quick tip, don't apply too much oil as this will leave more you will need to remove from the surface. If the surface absorbs the oil, you can always apply more if needed.

Remove Excess

Allow the oil to sit for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Then, wipe the surface using a terry towel.

Remove the gloves and use your hand to make sure there is no excess oil remaining on the surface.

Once all the oil is removed, allow the finish to set for 24 hours before using it.
