How to Prepare Sesame Spiced Rice

This is a very spicy rice prepared with sesame seeds as main ingredient.

First, sesame seeds with other ingredients are grind to powder and seasoned. Then cooked rice is mixed with the seasoning to make the Sesame Spiced Rice.

It tastes very good. You do not require any sides with this and can eat as it is.

Ingredients

For the Spice Powder

  • 4 Teaspoons of Black Sesame seeds
  • 2 Teaspoons of split Chickpea lentils
  • 2 Teaspoons of husked Black gram Lentils
  • 1 Teaspoon of Black Pepper corn
  • 4 dried Red Chillies

For Tempering

  • 1 Teaspoon of Mustard seeds mixed with split black gram lentils
  • 1 Teaspoon of Split Chickpea lentils
  • 2 Dried Red chillies
  • 1 Teaspoon of Asafoetida powder
  • Handful of Curry leaves

For Garnishing

  • 2 Teaspoons of roasted Peanuts
  • Handful of Coriander leaves
  • Handful of Curry leaves

Dry Roast Ingredients for Spice Powder

  • In a frying pan, dry roast Sesame seeds, Black pepper corn, husked Black gram lentils, and Split Chickpea lentils
  • Break the dried red chillies in pieces and dry roast

Make Spice Powder

  • Transfer all the dry roasted ingredients to a plate ans allow them to cool
  • Then transfer them to a mixer-grinder jar, and grind to a fine powder

Seasoning the Spice Powder

  • In a frying pan add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil and keep over medium flame
  • When the oil is heated, add mustard seeds, Split chickpea lentils and Dried red chilli pieces
  • When the Mustard seeds start to crack, add handful of Curry leaves
  • Then add the grind spice powder to the pan and mix well

Mix Cooked Rice

  • Cook about one cup of Rice separately in a pressure cooker
  • When the spice powder in the pan is seasoned, add the cooked rice to the pan and mix well

Garnish and Serve

  • Add the roasted Peanuts and garnish with chopped Curry leaves and Coriander leaves
  • Mix well and remove from stove.

This Sesame Rice is very spicy and tastes real good. No side dishes are required with this.

Serve hot and enjoy.
