How to Prepare: Chinese Cured Pork Sausage

IMG_1277.JPG

I am currently a college student, and I do not have time for cooking with all of the work I have to do. One of my most favorite dishes that does not consume much time is the Chinese Cured Pork Sausage! I can just leave it to cook and do something else in the meantime, making this dish very efficient. When I was a child when my grandma would make it, I could smell it throughout the house and would be excited! Although I cannot cook as good as her, I can do my best to recreate one of my favorite childhood dishes.

Supplies

Ingredients:

-3 Cups of White Rice (you can substitute)

-Sausage

-Cooking oil

-Oyster Sauce

-Soy Sauce

-Sesame Oil

-Salt

Tools:

-Rice Cooker

-Stove

-Pan

Cooking the Rice

First we will add 3 cups of rice to the pot. My grandma told me to always rinse the rice at least 3 times!

As to why, I am not sure. But Grandma does know best!

After rinsing we will add 3 cups of water.

Then put the rice in the rice cooker for about approximately 30 minutes.

Preparing the Sausage

Now we move onto the heart of this dish!

First we will chop the sausage into thin slices to make sure they are cooked.

Back home, we would do this so it looked like there was more food so we could share easier.

Now, pour oil into the pan so it gets heated.

Add the thin slices into the pan and let it cook for little while trying to avoid burns.

While it is cooking add salt, and then oyster sauce to the pan!

Then add sesame oil.

Mix it until the sausage seems cooked, then turn off the stove.

Eating !!
