Gather Supplies
To play the game, you will need...
- A piece of paper
- Writing utensil
- A partner to play with
Draw 2 Vertical Lines Parallel to One Another
Draw 2 Horizontal Lines Parallel to One Another
These 2 horizontal lines should cross the vertical lines previously drawn in step 2.
Decide Which Partner Is X's and Which Is O's
Each partner should either be character X or O. This can be decided by...
- Choosing
- Coin Toss
Place an X on One of the 9 Grid Places
The partner that will be X during the game will go first. The X should be placed in one of the nine grid places of your choosing.
Mark an O on the Grid
The partner that will be O during the game will place an O on one of the nine grid places.
Alternate Partners Marking X's and O's
Take Turns Until Line Is Formed
Continue taking turns between partners marking X's and O's until a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line of the same character is formed.
Connect 3 X's or O's
When 3 X's or O's are lined up vertically, horizontally, or diagonally, draw a line between the characters connecting them.
Determining a Winner
When 3 X's or O's characters connect, this will determine the winner of the game. If characters cannot connect, this is considered a draw and no winner is determined.
