This tutorial is a step-by-step guide to play Augmented Robotics' original AR game with RoboHeart!

If you haven't already built your own RoboHeart yet checkout the Instructables tutorial here! And if you haven't yet, be sure to purchase RoboHeart on Kickstarter to get some great Early Bird deals!

Supplies

  1. Turn on your RC car with the built-in RoboHeart.
  2. Find a nice, flat play area which is at least 2 x 2 m² and put your RoboHeart-enhanced car in that play area
  3. Open our original Augmented Reality Game App! If you are a Kickstarter Backer you will get an early access on the AppStore and PlayStore.

Start the AR-Game

  1. You need to activate your Bluetooth. During the first time you will need to give permission to the app to use the camera and Bluetooth (both are needed to control the RoboHeart and to enable Augmented Reality).
  2. On the home screen you must press the “Start Scan” button. The app will automatically scan for RoboHearts in your area and connect to the closest one (unless you have programmed the RoboHeart to do something else).
  3. When the connection is successful, the “Start Game” button is enabled and you can press it.

Set-up the Planes for the Game

  1. Now “scan” the play area with your smartphone camera. That just means you slowly move around the smartphone camera while it is looking on the floor. You will then see a plane appearing on your smartphone screen.
  2. When the plane covers your whole play are, you just tap on the smartphone screen and your digital play area appears.
  3. You can use the sliders at the bottom to scale and rotate the digital play area.
  4. You can even rotate it.
  5. When you are happy with the settings and ready to play, you can finally press “START”.

Rock and Roll!

Rock’n’roll! Now you can use the control sticks on the screen (on the left and right) to control your car in the play area. And most importantly now you see AR-game-elements appear on the screen which your RC-model can collect.
