How to Play Basic Volleyball Moves

basic volleyball moves!

hi everyone! since outdoor training areas (such as volleyball courts) are opening here, I decided it was a good idea to teach some of you some beginner moves for how to play! In this video, I taught the dig and set that I do and that is very fundamental in games of volleyball. and yes I know my room is very nicely decorated (not).

Supplies

A medium-sized ball that is not very heavy

Some space so you don't hit yourself

Step 1: the Dig

The dig is arguably the most important move in all of volleyball. You do it by placing your two palms in an X shape, one over the other. Then, still in the X shape, make a small bowl out of your palms and pull your two thumbs together as shown in the picture above. When you have your hands together, make sure to extend your entire arms out as if you want to reach something in front of you, extending your shoulders and elbows. When the ball comes your way, make sure to move your knees and almost do a squat when you play so the power from your body lifts the ball up.

Step 2: Setting

The setting is a more difficult but yet very simple and important way of playing volleyball. You use it to set (pass to the hitter/point-getter) and score points and in some cases can also receive a serve with it. You do a set by extending your hands and fingers above your forehead, making sure that your hands make a sort of triangle shape that you can clearly look through. Then just spring the ball from your palms and hands, making sure it isn't a hit or anything but spring with the help of your fingers. Be careful to not injure yourself with this move!
