Being knowledgeable of how to use power tools can be a really useful skill for any homeowner. If you have an easy fix or repair it can be easily done yourself using your own tools which can save you time and money. I hope you find my basic instruction on how to operate a power drill useful!

Supplies

The following items are required:
1. A power drill
2. Charger for power drill
3. Attachable/Detachable battery
4. Various drill bits

Charging the Power Drill

Begin by taking your power drill charger and plugging it into an outlet. Once that is accomplished one can simply slide the drill battery onto the charger to begin charging. The power source indicates a red light when it is still charging, and green once complete. Once the charge is complete the drill battery slides off and is ready to be used.

Inserting Battery Into Drill

To do this, detach the battery from the charger as explained in step one. Once this is complete you will need to slide the battery onto the base of the drill, very similar to how the power battery into the charger. Give the battery a little tug to ensure it is fit properly.

Controlling Power Drill Direction

There is a small button on power drills usually located centrally on the drill just above the trigger. This is a two way button with arrows indicating direction on both sides. When the button is pushed in the side sticking out will have an arrow indicating which way the drill will rotate. This is useful for placing as well as removing screws and drill bits.

Choosing the Right Drill Bit

Choosing the correct drill bit is important as it is what enables you to place as well as remove screws. Screws have a pattern on the top of them, the drill bit must match this pattern, kind of like a key in order to gain traction to remove or place it. One can match a screw to the correct drill bit by observing the different sizes and placing them together until you find a match. With a lot of practice you will be able to automatically tell what kind of drill bit you need just by taking a glance at the screws!

Changing the Drill Bit

To change the drill bit, you want to push the button in order to change the drill direction to counterclockwise. you will then grab around the end of the drill firmly. Once a fire grip is maintained pull the trigger. The end of the drill should open allowing for the removal and placement of any drill bit. Once the bit is inside, change the direction to clockwise, grab the end of the drill again and pull the trigger. This will tighten your drill bit into place and you are now ready to go!
