The problem with pannier racks is that they can block your rear light on your seat post. A solution is to mount it to the rack instead. With the light closer to the back of the bike, you might find it safer because drivers can see you sooner. In this Instructable, I will show you how to mount a 2W Cygo‑Lite Hot Shot bike light onto the rack.

Materials

  • 4" long PVC pipe
  • 3" x 6" Plastic board
  • Cable ties
  • Epoxy putty or hot glue
  • Rear bike light of your choice
  • Rear reflector of your choice
  • Duct tape

Drill the Plastic Board

When using the epoxy putty, make sure it flows through the holes on the plastic board and pipe for better strength.

Cable Tie the Pipe to the Board

Time will tell how long it will last. If the epoxy does come off, the cable tie will keep your lights from falling off.

If the pipe is too small, you can wrap the pipe with duct tape or rubber strips.
