How to Market the Roam Guard
This is how to market a product out of random items that have been supplied. For this purpose, I made an at-home security system. This instructable won't be about how I made the product, but will be about how to market it, and the steps in how to do so.
Supplies
To provide a brief overview of how I developed my idea, this product features two cameras, a Rumba, and Samsung 3D glasses. From there, I wasn't concerned about making it functional, but I was worried about presenting my product as though it worked perfectly. I also used ChatGPT for the final photographs and all my advertisements. The assembly was quite simple: place the camera on the rumba with a piece of tape. But remember the point of this is to market it!
The Product Photographs
The first step in marketing your product is to acquire photographs of it. The first photograph was taken with my iPhone, with a green screen in the background. However, due to the wrinkles in the screen, I wasn't able to edit it properly in Photoshop. So I decided to use ChatGPT to edit that for me. All I asked it to do was make the background solid green, which gives us our second photograph. Once I saw how easy it was to use ChatGPT instead of Photoshop, I continued to use it to edit the photographs. My final request from ChatGPT was to place my photograph (green background photo #2) in a house. This was the photo it produced (the 3rd picture). Now that we have all of our photos taken and edited, we can continue to the next step. This is our final product, and it is almost ready to be published in the market.
Price
Now, onto the price of our product, this is one of the more important steps in marketing. This is the determining factor in whether someone will buy or not buy. If our price is too high, no one will purchase it because people put a value on everything that they buy, and if the price is too high, it won't meet that self-appointed value. But on the other hand, if the price is too low, people will see it as cheap, poor quality, and not worth purchasing. With this, the set price for this product is going to be $400. The photograph attached above shows the increase in the security market, and from 2025 to 2033, it is predicted to rise 6.3% in 8 years. So with the demand for security rising, a product that is priced mid-range with not just one but two cameras is a deal. Considering that one high-quality camera alone runs at $200 by itself.
Place or Distribution
Finally, we have a price for our product, leaving us with the question of where we will sell it. If our company, Roam Guard, set up a brick-and-mortar store, it would do well, but it would be hard to have a larger outreach to people. So, for this reason, I would choose a retail store that is family-friendly. Such as Walmart, Costco, and Sam's Club. All of these stores serve families of all sizes daily with all their essential needs. We just have to make sure Roam Guard becomes an essential need. Costco and Sam's Club will play a large part in our promotion of this product.
Promotion
You can't have an amazing product with a reasonable price be sold without an amazing promotion. These next three types of promotion are the most common forms we see daily. The best way to start your promotion is to ask yourself what is something I see or hear daily.
Radio Advertisement
For the radio Ad, this can have a fun jingle that people will play in their head throughout the day. I'm sure that we all have a radio ad that goes through our head at least once a week, or one we remember fairly decently. The whole point of a radio ad is to make the person visualise the product in their mind. Once we have that accomplished, we want to use power words such as reliable, high quality, user-friendly, quick assembly, and high speed. The whole purpose of a power word is to etch the value into the listener's head quickly and efficiently. Remember this needs to be short, sweet, and to the point that your product is the top of its line and that they have to have it. At the end of the ad, have a call to action, meaning tell the listener what you want them to do after hearing your ad. Some examples could be "Call now!" "The clock is ticking. Call Now!" "If you Call Now, and we will include (item of sale) for half the price!"
Billboard Advertisement
In this step, I made a billboard ad. This is something where you want to have a catchy slogan or an image of the product that is enticing. The slogan for my billboard is "home security at the tips of your fingers." This leaves the potential customer with the feeling of comfort, security, and accessibility. For the processes of making it, I used Canva. In Canva, I looked up billboard and found this template that I liked. From there, I added a website, my slogan, and where to buy (Shop Now at your local retail store).
Three Pannel Brochure
To create my brochure, I chose to use Canva. They have templates where you can remove the example information and put in your own information. The first two photos are before I started editing them, and the second set of photos is after. This was my instructable on how to market my Roam Guard. Thank you.
