How to Make the Perfect Pancake
Hi, my name is Aaliyah! I have been cooking, baking, and eating for many years now. Not only do I do it for fun, to keep from starving, or because I’m good at it, but because there is a lot of good food out there and I want to try it all. Hopefully, you do too! Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to cook or bake, but that is okay because I am here to demonstrate how to make a pancake and eat it the way you like it in the four following steps! Even if you do not like pancakes, your future kids might, so we will make sure we know how to make the best pancake ever!
Step One: Gather Your Ingredients and Supplies.
Pick out a pancake mix from the store that you think will be like best. Though most pancake mixes are similar, ingredients and their amounts may differ, so be sure to measure the ingredients carefully. A medium-size bowl and whisk should be used to mix ingredients. While mixing the ingredients, take a non-stick skillet/pan and add 1-2 tablespoons of butter or oil. Heat this at a medium temperature until hot.
Step Two: Add Batter to the Pan and Add Mix-ins.
Once the pancake batter is mixed and little to no lumps, it is time to add it to the hot pan. Based upon the size of the pan, add batter to the desired amount. Depending on personal preference, now is when add-ins such as blueberries, chocolate chips, cinnamon, strawberries, etc. can be carefully sprinkled on top of batter.
Note: Depending on the thickness of the batter, it may be necessary to add more batter on top of mix-ins to avoid burning them. Be careful not to add too much more batter or the pancake will not cook evenly.
Step Three: Cooking Until Golden Brown.
Once the pancake batter has cooked in the pan for some time, air bubbles in the batter should be seen or simply lift the edges to check for a golden brown color. This is when the pancake should be flipped. Carefully slide a spatula under the pancake, lift it from pan and flip it over to cook evenly on the other side. This may take some practice.
Warning: It is not recommended to press down on the pancake. This will flatten it, ruining the fluffiness of it making it flat and heavy.
Step Four: Remove From Pan, Serve, and Enjoy!
Continually check the underside of the pancake to ensure even cooking and to avoid burning the pancake. When the pancake is cooked to a golden brown or until the center of it is no longer moist or too doughy, it is ready to be placed on a plate. This is the perfect time to add toppings such as fruit, syrup, peanut butter, or even whip cream. Once toppings are added, your pancake is ready to be served!
Note: If more pancakes are to be made, be sure to keep pan evenly oiled to prevent sticking. In addition, to keep pancakes from getting cold during additional cooking time, it is recommended to place them in an oven at a low temperature to keep them hot.
