First things first with having the perfect cup of coffee, start with a clean coffee pot. Even if the machine is brand new out of the box, it is still necessary to soak the carafe, coffee basket, filter basket and all other pieces in warm, soapy water. Just make sure the electrical part of the machine isn’t submerged in water, instead wipe it down with a wet washcloth. It is important to understand that the machine doesn’t need to be washed after every use, but if used often, clean it 2-4 times a month. Keeping up to date on the cleanliness of the machine will result in better tasting coffee.

To begin making coffee, fill cool, fresh, filtered water to the internal water reservoir of the coffee maker. Cool, fresh, and filtered water will result in better tasting coffee. Do not overfill during this process. Next, it is time to add the ground coffee. The types of ground coffee have a wide variety, choose a kind that best fits your taste preference. Two generous tablespoons of ground coffee are the average recommended amount for every cup of water brewed. This will result in a medium to bold brew, if a milder brew is wanted, try fewer coffee grounds. After finding the correct kind and amount of ground coffee, fill the filter basket. Some machines require the use of a paper filter, others have their own mesh filter, read the owner’s manual of the machine to find out.

Step Three: Brewing the Coffee

Last but not least, turning the machine on and brewing the coffee. Many coffee makers are started by the simple press of the start button. See the coffee maker’s owner’s manual for exact instructions. Most machines only take a few minutes to brew a full pot of coffee, sit back and enjoy the aroma. Many people select creamer, sugar, or other additional add-ins to enrich the flavor of the coffee. The amount and type of add-ins will also vary depending on personal preference.

Now you can show off your skills to all your coworkers, to make their morning a little more enjoyable by making them a perfect cup of coffee. Each coffee maker is a little different, if any questions arise, fall back to looking at the machine’s owner’s manual. Enjoy your perfect cup of coffee!
