How to Make the Eye of Sauron Cake!
So I was baking a cake last night and while it was in the oven I looked around google to find some lord of the rings cake designs. While most of them would require years of baking skills but the Eye of Sauron cake looked pretty easy. So to do this you will need chocolate frosting, cake of course, white frosting, yellow red and orange food coloring, and a paint brush. So let's get started!
Frosting the Cake!
I chose a chocolate frosting to frost the cake in. First, lay down the first layer and frost the top. Then, put the second layer on the top of the first and frost the top and the sides.
The recipe for the chocolate frosting is:
1/2 cup butter (melted)
4 TBLS cocoa
4 cups confectioners sugar
3 TBLS milk
2/3 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Just beat all the ingredients until smooth.

Doing the Eye
Make this recipe for the white frosting:
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 egg whites
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Combine sugar, water, and cream of tartar in a saucepan over medium-high heat until bubbly. Beat the egg whites and vanilla in a bowl until fluffy. Add sugar mixture to the egg whites and let cool.
After the white frosting was cooled down, I divided it into thirds and added orange, red, and yellow food coloring to each third. Start by Outlining the shape of the eye in the middle and pipe tall and long zigzags around the border. You don't have to be really clean with your work at this point. Next, with a spoon, smear yellow around the red and then orange around the yellow.

Brushing the Frosting.
Take a paintbrush and brush and drag all the colors away from the eye to give it that flaming look! You could also brush some of the yellow into the red but be careful that it doesn't get to the eye. I you happen to have black icing then put some in the middle but I didn't have any so I just passed that up. I also cranked out a little piping around the bottom with the extra frosting I had.
