These beautiful Mars Bar Oat Bars are something of a golden oldie for me! A recipe I have made many times for quite a number of years and one that is always very well received. Perfect for the Mars Bar lover in your life, this easy tray bake is a gorgeous flapjack style recipe I guarantee you will come back to again & again!

Here is what you will need to make 16 bars.

  • 4 x 33.8g Mars Bars
  • 60ml Double Cream
  • 100g Milk Chocolate
  • 125g Plain Flour
  • 90g Rolled Oats
  • 50g Soft Light Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 140g Unsalted Butter, Cold

Essential Equipment

  • 20cm (8″) Square Baking Tin

Making the Filling

Preheat your oven to 200°C/Fan 180°C and lightly grease & line the base and sides of your baking tin.

Roughly chop 2.5 of the 4 Mars Bars and place into a small saucepan along with the double cream. Heat gently, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth. Don’t worry if there are a few bits of nougat still in there. Leave to one side to cool whilst you prepare the rest of the ingredients.

Chop the remaining 1.5 Mars Bars & the 100g bar of milk chocolate into chunks and pop into the freezer. This will make sure that you end up with chunks of Mars Bar & chocolate in the centre rather than just melted goo.

Meanwhile, sift the flour into a large bowl. Then add in the oats, light brown sugar, bicarbonate of soda & salt and give it a mix. Cube up the butter and rub into the flour mix with the tips of your fingers until it forms a crumbly dough.

Allow to cool completely in the tin before removing & slicing into 16 pieces. (4 x 4 grid.)

Store at room temperature in an airtight container (I prefer metal as they keep their crunch better) and consume within 5 days.

How much do want to make some Mars Bar Oat Bars now eh?! I love those beautiful pockets of Mars Bar caramel goo that explode out the top! So chewy & delicious, seriously – this is one that you really need to try for yourself. Definitely a little more interesting than your standard flapjack that’s for sure!
