How to Make the Basic Chain Stitch

The chain stitch has many variants, but in this instructable we will learn the basics!

Let's go!

Supplies

  1. Embroidery threads.
  2. Scissors.
  3. Needle.
  4. Tissue.
  5. Embroidery frame.

Preparation

Thread the needle and tie a knot at one end (I suggest that you knot three or two knots on top of each other, instead of just one).

Then put the fabric in the embroidery frame.

The Stich

Stick the needle into the fabric, and pull until the knot is against the fabric.

Then put the needle back in, close to the place where you had already stuck it, but instead of pulling, stick it in a little later (as shown in the image). Attention, you must pass the thread under the needle! And only then can you pull the needle.

The Chain

To make the chain even, just repeat the previous step.

To finish, put the needle in the fabric one last time (as shown in the image 1), turn the frame upside down and tie a knot to hold the thread, and that's it!

Now that you know how to make the chain stitch, you can search about the lazy daisy stitch, a stitch very similar to the chain stitch.
