Come along with me to make a super cute Scrunchie Elastic Lanyard! All you need to know how to do is sew a straight line! These lanyards make great gifts for teachers!

Supplies

  1. 2.5 in x 1 2/3 yd strip of fabric
  2. 38 in peice of 3/4 elastic
  3. Sewing machine
  4. Thread
  5. Fabric scissors
  6. Saftey pin
  7. Metal swivel clip

Create a Tube

Step 1

Take your 2.5 in piece of fabric, fold it in half, and create a straight stich going all the wat down, creating a long tube.

Flip It Inside-out

Step 2

Use your safety pin to turn the long fabric tube inside out. When you are done, the seam should be on the inside.

Thread Your Elastic

step 3

Take your piece of elastic and use the safety pin to thread it through the tube of fabric. Make sure the elastic doesn't slip through the fabric tube.

Attach the Fabric to the Elastic

step 4

Now you are going to fold the end on the fabric inside on itself and run a straight stitch back and forth to attach the fabric to the elastic. Do this to both ends.

Attach Your Clip

step 5

Now that you have a long strip of scrunchie, you need to slip your metal swivel clip onto one end. Then you need to attach the two ends together using a straight stitch back and forth.

One Last Stitch

Step 6

Now that both ends are connected, you need to place the swivel clip in the middle and make one final stitch back and forth!

Final Touches!

Make your final adjustments by distributing the scrunchie-ness of the fabric!
