The reason I got the idea to make sushi sandwich was from onigiri from Korea, In english it translates to rice trangles, which is a dish you stuff with a meat or veggies then put rice around it. My sandwich is made from rice and the veggies just like how rice tringles are made.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cups of Sushi rice
  • Nori
  • ½ a Cucumber
  • 1 carrot
  • ¼ of an onion
  • 1 TBSP of cream cheese
  • 1 tsp of olive oil or butter

Materials

  • Pan
  • Measuring cups
  • Pot (with lid)
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • spoon

The first step to creating a sushi sandwich is to cook sushi rice, the way to make sushi rice

Rinse 2/3 cups of sushi rice in a strainer or colander under cold running water until the water runs clear then you Combine rice and 1 1/3 cups of water in a pan over medium-high heat and bring it to a boil. Reduce the temperature to low then cover and cook until rice is tender and all water has been absorbed, then after that you remove the pan from heat and Allow the sushi rice to cool for about 15-20 min.

Form Sushi Rice Into Buns

Then once you are done letting your rice cool you form it into a bun like shape with your hands. Then lightly fry it in a pan with about 1 TBSP of olive oil. Let the olive oil to heat on the pan for about one minute , then you slowly put your rice buns into then pan and lightly fry on each side of the rice bun. once you complete frying them. Take the rice buns out and let it sit on a paper towel and cool

Putting in Your Toppings.

Then once you are done with letting the rice bun cool you can top with whatever veggies or proteins you like.

In mine I put 1/2 a cucumber in slices, 1 Nori Wrap, 1/4 of a diced onion and one TBSP of cream cheese.

Then once you are putting on your toppings in your sandwich you can top it with the other side of the bun and enjoy!
