How to Make a Wounded Pumpkin?

I'm not one of those fancy jack-o-lantern carvers, so I figured I would just add some twitch on mine.

The idea is for a water pump to feed colored water via some tubing and out of the pumpkin's wound. The supplies needed are as follows:

• Red food coloring
• Outdoor fountain pump
• ID tubing
• Halloween tray
• The star of the show (pumpkin)

I bet everyone already knows this part. I tried to do some sketches on paper and opted for this simple design.

The pumpkin will be placed on this tray, which sits on top of the reservoir. I drilled a series of holes that would drain the colored water back into the reservoir.

First, you need to cut the tubing to the correct length. Next, press and fit it into the pump. You then need to drill a 1/2" hole through the lower back of the pumpkin and run the tubing through. 

This would be the source to the blood magic later.

You can use anything you want, but I used a small drill bit just to make a small exit hole for the "blood." Good thing you don't need to use a drill since you can just spin the bit with your hand.

Now the tricky part of this project was somehow trying to find a perfect bowl! After running through a bunch of stores, I finally got one!

We need a fire for the Jack-O-Lantern, but for this one, we'll just use some 12-volts battery-powered LEDs that you can buy from a local store near you.

For the decor, I stuck a knife near the wound hole for additional effect. I also added a "beware" sign on the bowl.

I still have not colored the water, as you can see in the picture. 

Now's the time to color the water red and start turning everything on. And there you have it—simple decor for your Halloween.
